The work on the mirror continues but at a slower pace due to the recession.
Several different telescope mount designs are evaluated. Most of these designs are focused on a central weight supporting ball floating on an air bearing. This is similar to they mount being implemented by the airborne infrared telescope SOFIA. These more radical designs are competing with a typical Alt-Az Mount which is still the winner at this point.
